Trace

This is based on Roland Barthes' phrase "That-has-been" from the book 'Camera Lucida'. Barthes said the following:

What I see has been here, in this place which extends between infinity and the subject (operator or spectator); it has been here, and yet immediately separated; it has been absolutely, irrefutably present, and yet already deferred.

Most of the pictures from the family album were taken by my father, whom I have not seen for more than 35 years. The moments he took of us and our facial expressions towards him through the camera have been frozen since that moment. I took these pictures as objects to trace the family history. The latest portrait I took of him, reunited after 35 years, has been already "That-has-been" and has become an object.
